Sadness.....

As you know we have been through quite the experience over the last month. Our most recent events include a most anticipated trip to Greece to see our friends and attend a church convention.  When we got to the ticket counter at the airport, they wouldn't allow me to fly without a certified document from a Dr.  I had no idea that most European airlines require a Dr. note after 27 weeks of pregnancy.  I flew into Rome at 30 weeks and was never asked a question.  With teary eyes we returned to our hotel room in Rome.  It was at this point that the reality of being "stuck" started to sink in.  The good news is, United and Aegean airlines allow you to fly up to 36 weeks.  We needed to reconsider our options........With the war still continuing in Israel and the end being unpredictable, we have decided that it is best for our family to fly back to the states to have the baby. It is important that the families here remain "mobile" (ability to leave within 24 hours) and we are getting to the point of not being able to be so mobile.  I am 33 weeks preggo and this mama is ready to sit down, put her feet up and wait for this baby.

We decided it best to fly back to Israel, unpack, wash, repack and gather a few items that would make our trip back to the US a bit more comfortable.  It has been a beautiful weekend here and it  feels so peaceful coming back, which isn't helping with the leaving process.  None of us want to leave, but we know that it is for the best.

It is with heavy hearts that we leave our coworkers, friends and neighbors behind.  Our thoughts and desires certainly remain in Israel.  This is probably one of the hardest decision that we have had to make.  We are so hopeful for those that stay here that peace will be restored soon and life can go back to how it was when we arrived.  Hang in there my friends!!

We fly tomorrow morning back to AZ and will stay in a temporary spot until we can find a more "permanent" spot for the next 3 months.  Wish us luck.  :)

Again, we are so thankful for all the kind thoughts and prayers extended on our behalf.  It has been quite an amazing journey!

Thinking of you all. Certainly not easy decisions you're making! Sure makes you wonder what the bigger picture will end up revealing. I'm glad you're all safe, though, and I hope your journey back will be uneventful. Take care of yourselves! It will all work out just as it's supposed to be...too bad we usually have tears and difficult decisions in the process! ((hugs))

Aww. Thinking of you. The stories your little family will be able to tell about the adventures you've had, the decisions you've been faced with.....neat!
Reminds me of the comforting lines, "Sweet is the story you shall tell, at eventide when day is done..."

I didn't realize you had updated your blog until last week when I read your updates about Israel. Your family has been near our hearts and in our prayers as we wondered what the next chapter would be. We are glad most of all that you are safe. We are thinking of you as you travel back with heavy hearts. I was thinking of that hymn "In love the Father ever veils the future..." We don't know what the future holds, but you are surely enriched by the experience so far...and however it will unfold in the future. Hugs! - Monique

Monique informed me that you had some blog updates - we've all been thinking of you, and today it was good to go back and read your accounts/see your pics of what your days have held. Can't even imagine the emotional roller coaster this time has been, but sure do pick up on the fact that you weren't ready to get off the ride yet and are having to for now. Hang in there - a large piece of your heart it staying behind, and hopefully you'll join it again there one day!! LOVED catching up - sending much love from here.

What an amazing adventure you have had! Your photos and accounts have won my heart. Israel seems even more appealing than I imagined! I am so sad you must make this temporary detour. But relieved, as well, to know all of you and the baby will be in a more secure setting. Surely hope the hostilities will end soon for the sake of all. We have watched the news with concern and prayer. Now you KNOW how much you have to return to on that side of the world!! Jan Satake
